Holden Custer and the Salem High School boys lacrosse team were hyped at the midpoint of Wednesday night鈥檚 contest against Patrick Henry.

Custer used that momentum to his advantage, firing in three straight goals in the first five minutes of the second half to build even more distance from the Patriots.

It proved enough, as the Spartans nabbed a decisive 13-5 victory on its home turf in a River Ridge District showdown of undefeated squads.

Custer finished with seven goals, no doubt the marquee player of a Spartans offense that saw five different players score. Andrew Crumpacker added two goals and two assists, while Jackson Jones notched two goals and one assist. Dakotah Hawkins dished out three assists and scored a goal, Kaidan Garst picked up three assists and Richard Hof made nine saves in net.
鈥淗olden Custer had a great game. We also put Ryan Warren at faceoff and he did an amazing job for us the whole game,鈥 Revercomb said. 鈥淚 think we just stayed the course, played team ball and didn鈥檛 get too crazy.鈥
Jack Kenney recorded a hat trick for the Patriots, who held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter but were outscored 12-2 in the final three. Drew Schroeder and John-Paul Prusakowski also scored for PH.
